Quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for yourself.

Whether you’re quitting for yourself or others, there are so many great reasons to quit.

Quitting for yourself

Why quit? Because you deserve it.

There are lots of good reasons to quit. For instance, look in the mirror. Quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for yourself. You’re worth it.

Every reason you have to quit is a good one.

Here are a few common reasons to quit given by ex-smokers:

  • I’ll save money.
  • I’ll feel better and have more energy to do the things I love to do.
  • My health will improve.
  • I want my surgery to go as well as it can.
  • I’ll have whiter teeth and fresher breath.
  • My sense of smell and taste will be better.
  • My clothes will smell better.
  • I want to set a great example for my children.
  • My friends, family and co-workers will be proud of me.

Write your reasons down.

Put your list in a place you’ll see it. You’ll want to go over these again and again to keep yourself motivated.

If you need any help, call 811 to talk to a counsellor.

If a counsellor is not available right away, they will call you back within 30 minutes. Our counsellors have the skills and experience to help you quit using tobacco no matter what kind of product you use. They can also help you to quit vaping.

Quitting is a win-win for you and your family.

Protect your family from second-hand smoke.

There’s only one way to completely protect your children and family from second-hand smoke: keep your home and car smoke-free. The best way to do that is to quit smoking.
